Vava, real name Edvaldo Izidio Neto, was born in Recife on November 12, 1934, and died in 2002.

Football career and World Cup history
Vava was a great striker and played for CR Vasco da Gama and SE Palmeiras, as well as the Brazilian national team. He played in both the FIFA 1958 and 1962 World Cups, scoring five and four goals respectively. Brazil won both cups and his 1962 World Cup goal scoring tally made him top goal scorer, along with five others.

In all, Vava received 22 caps with the Brazilian national team.
