Valentin Ivanov, USSR

Valentin Ivanov was born on November 19, 1934 in Moscow, and is touted as being one of the then Soviet Unionís best ever strikers.

Football career and World Cup history
Ivanov played for a number of Soviet clubs, but it was with Torpedo Moscow where he spent most of his career and achieved his best record. Valentin scored a total of 124 goals in the Soviet Championship.

Valentin Ivanovís international record is also fairly impressive, with 26 goals in 59 caps for the Soviet Union, placing him in third behind Oleg Blokhin and Oleg Protasov. Ivanov played in both the 1958 and 1962 FIFA World Cups, scoring two goals in the former and four in the latter to share the top goal scoring spot with five other players.
