Thomas Muller, Germany

Background
Thomas Müller was born in Weilheim, Germany, on 13th September, 1989, and is a midfielder and forward. He is especially known for his pace, technique and consistency and came through the Bayern ranks.

Football career
Going through Bayern Munich’s youth system, it wasn’t until the 2009–10 season that Thomas Müller made the full squad under new manager, Louis van Gaal. He then went on to play in virtually all games in that season, with Bayern winning the league title as well as the double.

Bayern Munich went on to reach the Champions League final and Müller's performance was enough to see him earn an international call-up. He was later named in Germany's young squad for FIFA World Cup 2010.

World Cup history
Thomas Müller played in all of Germany’s group games in World Cup 2010 scoring his first goal against Australia. He later scored two against England in the last 16. Müller eventually went on to win the Golden Boot despite Germany falling to Spain in the semis. They finished third after beating Uruguay in the third/fourth place play-off (with Müller scoring one goal). Müller made five goals in six appearances and, along with the Golden Boot, he picked up the Best Young Player award.
