Oleg Salenko, Russia
Oleg Salenko was born in Leningrad in the former Soviet Union in 1969 and started his footballing career in 1986.
Salenko played as a striker for various clubs from 1986 to 2000, including Zenit Leningrad, Dinamo Kiev, Logro˝Ús, Valencia, Rangers, and Istanbulspor.
World Cup history
He later played for his national team, Russia, in the 1994 world cup and achieved a record of scoring five goals in one game against Cameroon. Even though Russia were knocked out of the ĺ94 world cup in the first round, Oleg Salenko amazingly still went on to share the coveted Golden Boot Award for scoring six goals in the tournament. Oleg shared the Golden Boot Award with Hristo Stoichkov from Bulgaria.
Although an incredible feat in the 1994 World Cup, Oleg Solenko could not maintain his international form and only scored one other goal for his country. Altogether, the Golden Boot Award winner only played nine international matches before retiring from professional football for medical reasons.
